Beijing and Shanghai Offices A permanent presence in China was first established in 1996 in Beijing to provide in-country services to Western and European investors requiring greater responsibility and expanded scopes of work. A second office was opened in Pudong, Shanghai, in October 2000, to better serve clients pursuing primarily Chemicals & Polymers related activity in the greater Shanghai area.
Aker Solutions China combines the track record of projects previously completed with the extensive supporting infrastructure and commitment of Aker Solutions, and offers high quality, cost-effective local resources to facilitate successful project execution in the dynamic China marketplace. It is a Wholly Owned Foreign Entity (WOFE) registered business and 100% owned by Aker Solutions.
As of September 2003, the total work force was 132 staff, with well over half of the personnel resident at various sites throughout China.
Both offices feature full IT facilities with a Local Area Network (LAN) that is fully connected with Aker Solutions' Global Communications Network.

Safety Record Our construction and safety professionals possess a wealth of experience of constructing plants in China. This enables us to ensure construction safety of the highest standard, utilising the most efficient international practices/techniques in the execution of the work, while adapting to incorporate local conditions.
The China operation has independently executed over 6.5 million manhours since 1998 without an LTA, and in 2003, the company received the Silver Award from ROSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) for its excellence in safety, following a Merit Award in 2001 and a Bronze Award in 2002.
