In severe weather many ships and offshore facilities have experienced green water on deck. Impact loads from such phenomena may be quite large and can cause significant damage to the equipment and the facility itself.
Fixed offshore structures (Gravity based structures and jackets) and floating production vessels are typical examples of facilities subject to these types of loads.
The dynamics of water is complex. Today, we can simulate how extreme waves will affect your offshore installations, and you can be sure to be prepared. Earlier simulations were not able to account for the dynamics of particles. Our software tools today simulate water movement, pressure, velocities and flow in an accurate manner, based on the complexity of particle analysis. One of our main tools in Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is the joint industry product ComFlow, which enables the highest possible level of detail available in the market today. Wave pressures and velocities are mapped onto an USFOS (non-linear finite element analysis) model and structural response is determined.
