The KEP2005 is intended to equip the Kårstø processing complex north of Stavanger to handle gas from Statoil's Kristin project in the Halten Bank area of the Norwegian Sea.
Rich gas from this field will be piped from the field to the complex through the existing Åsgard Transport trunkline.
NGL - ethane, naphtha, iso and normal butane, and propane - will be separated from this gas and exported by ship to countries all over the world. The remaining sales gas is due to be piped to markets in continental Europe.
The rich gas is processed at Kårstø. That means that the natural gas liquids - ethane, naphtha, propane, iso butane and normal butane - are extracted and the rest, the sales gas, is piped to the markets in continental Europe and the UK. The liquefied products are shipped to countries world-wide.
Scope of work:
- Prefabrication/assembly of piperacks and utility units (35 - 450 tonnes) at Aker Stord (January - July 2004)
- Construction and installation work at Statoil's Kårstø gas termincal north of Stavanger in Norway (January 2004 - July 2005)
The Kårstø processing complex is Europe's biggest export port for natural gas liquids (LNG) and the third largest in the world.
