In the UK, the Health & Safety Executive require the operators of hazardous process and pharmaceutical plants to assess the risks to people in Occupied Buildings. The CIA has issued guidance for the location and design of occupied buildings on chemical manufacturing sites (1998).
To comply with COMAH Safety Report Assessment Guidance operators are required to carry out an Occupied Buildings Assessment using, for example, the CIA guidance.
