Having executed over 30 chlor-alkali projects around the world since 1979, Aker Solutions is a proven performer in the supply of process technology, design, procurement services, and commissioning of chlor-alkali plants. With experience in membrane, diaphragm, and mercury electrolyzer technologies, we are well positioned to provide customized plant studies, complete designs, and equipment supply for new installations, membrane conversion projects, plant modernizations, and capacity expansions for plants producing 75 tonnes/day and higher.  Plant construction and construction management services are also available through Aker Solutions.

Our specialized know-how and technology enable us to provide safe, reliable plants that offer the latest innovations in process design, and our experience extends to all areas of the plant. We have worked with most international electrolyzer suppliers and work closely with our customers to select the best available electrolyzer technology.

Ongoing research keeps us at the forefront of chloralkali process technology. For example, our latest advancement is the patented Sulphate Removal System (SRS), which can dramatically reduce brine purge volumes or eliminate the discharge of solid barium sulphate. With significant savings in operating costs, SRS technology offers attractive economics in addition to environmental benefits.

We have focused our recent chloralkali development efforts on what we consider to be a key element of a successful chloralkali plant – the brine system. We maintain a working brine system model in our technology centre near Vancouver to adapt our process for a variety of salt sources. With our long history of service to the industry, Aker Solutions offers a rare combination of chloralkali specialization, technology development, and projects execution capabilities that are second to none.
