Aker Solutions is the most experienced contractor in the execution of projects utilising the INVISTA (formerly DuPont and ICI) technology for the production of pure terephthalic acid. Starting in 1985 with the first ICI licensed plant, we have carried out projects around the world for both INVISTA and its licensees. PTA plants which we have executed represent around 20 per cent of the world PTA production capacity.
We have also implemented improvement, debottlenecking and development work, resulting in the most advanced PTA process in the world. Our considerable experience in this technology means that we are expert at handling the complex engineering issues associated with PTA.
Zhejiang Hualian Sunshine Petro-Chemical Co. Ltd.'s PTA plant, China - A record-breaking plant start-up was realised with nameplate capacity achieved within four days.
Aker Solutions also has a close relationship with Artenius on PTA projects in Africa, CIS, Europe and the Middle East. Artenius is the brand name for La Seda de Barcelona's Polyester Business. La Seda is Europe's leading Polyester business with over 1 million tonnes of PET capacity and integration both upstream and downstream in to PTA and PET preforms respectively. As well as producing and selling PTA and PET, La Seda have exclusive rights to license Invista's world leading PTA and PET process technology throughout a territory including Europe, Africa, the CIS and the Middle East. Within La Seda, technology licensing is undertaken by the Artenius Technology team which resides in Artenius UK and has over 20 years of experience of licensing this technology through its ICI, DuPont and Advansa heritage.
