
Basic and detail engineering for each project is performed under the direction of a Senior Project Engineer who is responsible to the Project Manager for all design work, specifications, and drawings required for procurement and construction of the plant. Aker Solutions' engineering departments are staffed with specialists in each of the disciplines involved in project engineering, ensuring the ready availability of qualified personnel for each assignment.
For many years, Aker Solutions engineers have used computer techniques in design calculations and have access to a continually-expanding library of sophisticated computer programs. Aker Solutions' design capability is further assisted by the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD). Schematic drawings and some dimensional drawings are produced using 2D-CAD workstations, with the modelling of process plant and structures undertaken on 3D-CAD work-stations. The use of detailed, three-dimensional scale models incorporating all physical arrangements of a plant design, both improves engineering efficiency and facilitates Client review and input into the design.
Our engineering database provides a central store with single point entry providing data integrity across multiple disciplines. The system also links with "smart" P&IDs and fully spatial 3D CAD models and permits sharing of project data for simultaneous operation from more than one engineering centre.
