	Record-breaking first oil

When India’s largest private sector oil company, Reliance Industries Ltd, produced first oil from its MA-D6 field located in the Bay of Bengal offshore India on 17 September 2008, it marked a proud milestone for Aker Solutions and the rest of the Aker family.

The entire field development – from discovery to production of first oil – happened within the space of less than two-and-a-half years. Never has a supplier delivered such a complex deepwater project so quickly, and never has a field been developed in such a short time.

The Aker family of companies was responsible for the entire MA-D6 field development.

MA-D6: short project profile

Delivering this unique development has been a testament to the fast-track approach taken with Reliance Industries Ltd and the combination of strengths and know-how brought by Aker.

Aker Solutions manufactured and delivered a complete subsea production system, including steel tube umbilicals, and managed the installation of the subsea equipment.

Aker Floating Production converted and delivered the floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) Dhirubhai 1, while Aker Solutions also delivered process equipment and a mooring and offloading system to the FPSO.

Both the subsea system and FPSO were delivered in less than 16 months after signing the final contract - a truly remarkable achievement.

The subsea trees, manifolds, control systems and steel tube umbilicals for this project were manufactured at our facilities across the globe including in Norway, Malaysia and the UK.

A dedicated subsea lifecycle service base in Kakinada, on the east coast of India, has also been set up to support this project.
