Kvaerner, the Anglo-Norwegian engineering and Construction Group, today announced that its Pulp & Paper business has secured a contract to supply a 75MWth energy-from-waste boiler, for Norrkoping Miljo och Energi in Sweden. The order is valued at approximately US$30 million.
12 Jan 01

The boiler will be among the largest energy-from-waste boilers supplied by Kvaerner, and the same size as the two boilers for a new energy-from-waste plant operated by Sogama in Spain, recently commissioned.
The project will be completed in the Autumn of 2002 and the new boiler will produce district heat for the city of Norrkoping, together with process steam for a nearby ethanol factory. It will use mainly household and industrial waste as a fuel source, with the use of municipal sludge as a supplemental fuel.
The power plant is located south of Stockholm and already operates a large 125 MWth CFB boiler, which was supplied by Kvaerner in 1993.
