Opening of Aker Kvaerner service base in Angola

The Aker Kvaerner base is located in Luanda, an area where all the major international oil companies and related industries are represented.  The service base will support ongoing Aker Kvaerner subsea activities in Angola as well as other Aker Kvaerner business streams involved in the Angolan oil & gas industry.

Egil Martinussen, SVP Products & Services in Aker Kvaerner Subsea, highlighted during the opening ceremony that “in order to effectively deliver installation and operation support, it is essential to be located close to our customers. Setting up a base in Angola is therefore a logical step in our business strategy”.

With a current workforce of some 90 staff onshore and offshore, where off 50 Angolans, Aker Kvaerner Subsea has delivered on its commitment to train and build local competence and technical knowledge. This involved exposing Angolans to different disciplines across different parts of Aker Kvaerner, integrating them with our teams in Oslo, Aberdeen and other locations.

"We need to offer predictability to all our customers. So the Dalia project is a very important project reference for us.”

Aker Kvaerner Subsea was in 2002 awarded some USD 300 million contract with Total Angola for delivery, installation and operation support of the Dalia Subsea Production System.
