Gunder Homstvedt, a senior manager in Aker Solutions’ subsea boosting team, was awarded the 2009 SPE Regional Production Award at the Offshore Europe 2009 event in Aberdeen.
The award was presented to Gunder, who works at Aker Solutions’ Tranby office, by John Martin Donachie, the Society for Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) director for the North Sea region. Gunder received the award “for distinguished contribution to petroleum engineering in the area of production and operations".
The award recognises Gunder’s long years of dedicated service to the industry, singular devotion of time and effort to the programme and development of subsea processing and boosting, North Sea region and the SPE.
Commenting on receiving the award, a typically modest Gunder stated that: “It’s a challenge to move frontiers and enable new ways of doing things. And it is exciting to work with a team of good, skilled engineers in order to achieve challenging goals. It is all about teamwork”.
“The fun part is that there are plenty of challenges and opportunities. In order to achieve technology breakthroughs you need good engineers, challenging tasks and the stamina to keep going when things are not going according to plan. I am lucky to be part of a company where all those things are present,” added Gunder.
Everyone in Aker congratulates Gunder on his well deserved award.
