Aker Solutions‘ training centre for well intervention operations opened in late May to the sound of music, ceremonial breaking of champagne bottles and wise words from senior executives. Håkon Rege, mayor of Sola, and Aker‘s main shareholder Kjell Inge Røkke, were among the guests.
Ole Petter Thomesen, president of Aker Well Service AS, and Simen Lieungh, CEO of Aker Solutions, officially opened the centre together with Mr Rege.
The centre, named Aker Well Intervention Academy, lies at Forus just outside Stavanger on Norway‘s west coast. The centre offers training and testing facilities for personell and equipment. Aker Solutions and partners ConocoPhilips, StatoilHydro and Talisman have all invested in the project, which will improve operations and safety offshore.
In this clip, Mads Andersen, executive vice president of Aker Solutions, explains more about Aker Solutions‘ Well Intervention Academy.
