The bulk storage tanks are designed for storage of bulk materials for drilling fluid and cement mixing (barite, bentonite, cement etc). Our fluidising bottom design ensures optimal transport rates and minimises the tanks dead volume.

Our surge tanks are designed for intermediate storage and addition of bulk barite/bentonite into drilling fluid hoppers/mixers and mixing lines.

STEP Offshore’s surge tank feeder is designed for high accuracy addition of powder chemicals from the surge tank to the mud mixer. The feed rates are set from a local control panel or via the mud control system. The activator on the surge tank feeder prevents build-up of material inside the surge tank, thus eliminating the need to use a sledgehammer to completely empty the tank. The unit provides a dust free working environment and is designed to meet all relevant offshore requirements regarding health, safety and environment.

During transport of bulk powder for mud mixing and cementing operations, transport air is ventilated to the surrounding environment. To eliminate dust exposure to surrounding environment and personnel, dust cyclones and collectors for removal of excess powder are used.
