Agitator

The RotoMud agitators series is designed to achieve the best possible mud tank agitation, with minimal energy consumption and maximum reliability.
Agitator - RotoMud 1000

Features and benefits:

  • State-of-the-art impeller design for best possible energy transmission and efficiency
  • Advanced CFD analysis for optimal agitator sizing and tank design
  • SEW drive unit and gear box field proven technology with extensive offshore track record

Agitators are a key component in all drilling equipment installations. Keeping the drilling mud constantly agitated prevents settling of solids, and is a very important factor in order to maintain proper mud parameters in the drilling process.

By optimising the agitator design, through the use of advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations during the impeller design, STEP Offshore has achieved significant efficiency improvements compared to existing solutions in the market place. The advanced design process can also be utilised to size and position agitators, not by rule of thumb, but by actually simulating the agitation in the tank design.

The efficient design is achieved by selecting the best combinations for impeller pitch, twist, width and diameter, with a contour shape that minimises turbulence. The impeller accelerates the fluid evenly over the entire blade, optimising energy transmission and efficiency.

The gear boxes and motors utilised in the RotoMud series agitators are extensively field proven in the onshore and offshore industry. They can be supplied in a variety of voltages, with the required certifications and several options, such as heaters and bottom stabilisers.

For a typical deep water drilling vessel, the annual savings from the reduced power consumption can typically reach USD 100 000. And the rig weight can be reduced by around 3 000 lbs / 1 500 kg.

The improved energy efficiency combined with market leading reliability and HSE focus, makes the RotoMud series agitators the best choice for all mud agitation applications.
