The state-of-the-art gear-driven drawworks technology is supplied to the oil industry for either on or offshore applications.

By combining the different performance characteristics of the dynamic brake and a regenerative brake via the drive motors with an intelligent, automated drawworks control system, Aker Solutions provides a standard of performance and safety that is hard to achieve with a chain-driven drawworks.
In 2011 Aker Solutions opened a test facility in Erkelenz, Germany, which enables us to test new products at site. The test rig offers an unrivalled capacity of up to 500t for dynamic load operations. This means that the time spent on commissioning at the yard is shortened, which again reduces risk and cost.
