The state-of-the-art gear-driven drawworks technology has been supplied as state-of-the-art to the oil industry for either on or offshore applications.
The major reasons are improved safety, optimal performance and control, significant weight reduction and increased reliability.
By combining the different performance characteristics of the dynamic brake and a regenerative brake via the drive motors with an intelligent, automated drawworks control system, Aker Solutions provides a standard of performance and safety that can hardly be achieved with a chain-driven drawwork.
Aker Solutions in 2011 opened a new test facility in Erkelenz, Germany, which enables us test new products at site. The test rig offers an unrivalled capacity of up to 500t for dynamic load operations. This means the time spent on commissioning at the yard is shortened, which again reduces risk and cost.
