Visioneering is virtual engineering. Testing and optimisation in an in-house simulated environment will enable thoroughly tested and fine tuned systems prior to on-site installation.
The offshore industry presents the petroleum community with especially challenging engineering tasks, involving multi-discipline design in harsh and difficult environments. Safety and environmental concerns are of high importance and high capital and operational expenses make reliability, confidence and visibility prime concerns.
The visioneering approach to systems design and realisation aims at reducing risks, removing uncertainty and lowering bottom line cost. Through use of innovative equipment and facility simulations as an integral part of the engineering process, the visioneering team can deliver projects on time and with considerably reduced commissioning time. The installed systems are optimised and fine-tuned to a level that has not been possible using traditional engineering practices. This ensures drilling rigs that operate at peak performance throughout their lifecycle.
Aker Solutions' performance technology centre achieves this through the use of our patent pending process and technology. Our ''try before you buy'' principle ensures that your equipment package is composed and integrated in a way that provides the best possible performance for your rig requirements. Testing and optimisation in an in-house simulated environment will enable thoroughly tested and fine tuned systems prior to on-site installation. Such testing will reduce offshore personnel required for installation and commissioning.
Features
Visioneering: improved results through virtual engineering ensures:
- Optimised rig performance
- Reduced non-productive time
- Truly tested and proven systems
Visioneering will help understand reality for all involved parties and avoid costly mistakes and misunderstandings. This is done by establishing a visual inter-discipline engineering platform, in the following steps:
Phase I: drilling process review
- Reproduce actual drill floor in a virtual environment, from laser clouds, 3D models and 2D drawings
- Connect virtual drilling equipment to actual control system and map current operation patterns
- Review drilling process optimisation with rig owners and operators in the simulator
- Define scope of work, what equipment to change and optimise
Phase II :upgrade execution (iterative process)
- Implement modifications to control system and simulator
- Run through the new rig with client, goals achieved or redesign
- Produce and install hardware, commission offshore
Phase III: continuous monitoring and optimisation
- Continuous monitoring by Aker Solutions' performance technology centre to provide benchmarking and optimisation of the ongoing drilling process
- The results from this process can trigger tweaking of work processes, training of personnel or updating of the rig equipment/control systems
