The system is designed to be flexible so that operators can complete all three wells, complete only one or two wells or complete one well or two wells and run surface casing ready for later completion. The wells may also be completed as single or dual completions.

The system reduces the number of slots on the platform hence the area exposed to wave loading is reduced. The platform jacket and deck area may therefore be smaller and less costly.

There is no need for additional conductors and associated space or time and equipment.

Benefits
Aker Solutions' Splitter™ wellhead system reduces both drilling and platform costs. Benefits include:

  • Fewer slots are required on new platforms
  • Slot use is maximised on existing platforms
  • Deck space is minimised
  • Slot recovery is maximised
  • Adding a slot becomes more cost effective
  • Drilling time is reduced
  • Workover can be performed independently
  • Allows operators to drill where location costs cannot support single wells
  • Uses standard and existing components

Field proven technology
The Splitter™ model, ‘LST’ (Lateral Slim Twin) and USW systems have been installed in various regions around the world with over 3000 successful installations. See our projects for more information.

This technology can be applied to:

  • Existing slots
  • New and existing platforms
  • Minimum-concept platforms
  • Exploration
  • Multi-branch horizontal wells
  • Environmentally sensitive areas
