The conference

The MEG (mono ethylene glycol) system is one of the largest and most complex units in a gas producing facility and essential for steady gas production from the field. Based on the experience Aker Solutions has had with delivering and participating in both commissioning, start-up and operation we have learned that:

Operational experience is key to understanding the MEG system.

Aker Solutions has delivered five MEG reclamation systems that are in operation, two in the commissioning phase and two in the execution phase. We are also involved in many FEEDs and conceptual studies worldwide.

As a technology provider, our primary focus is to ensure the best product for our customer. A great deal of knowledge has been gained from our projects and we believe that it would be of great benefit for all operators using Aker Solutions’ HIT™ technology to share their experiences with us and others with licences in our hydrate inhibition technology. Sharing experiences helps to ensure improvement to the technology for the future.

Based on the positive feedback we received from the 2009 conference, we would like to invite all operators using Aker Solutions’ HIT™ technology to participate in the 2011 HIT™ Conference.

The conference is an open forum where we can discuss and share experiences with these systems and hopefully improve the understanding of the challenges related to the operation and the hydrate inhibition technology in general.

While the programme is still being developed, the main focus will be on:

  • Plant performance
  • Product quality
  • Maintenance requirements and plant availability
  • Sampling and laboratory routines
  • MEG losses
  • Material selection
  • Control and instrumentation
  • Effect of corrosion products and production chemicals
  • Combination of MEG with other types of hydrate inhibitors

For plants that have yet to start up, we would be interested to learn more about issues such as conceptual evaluations, testing that has been performed and valuable experiences from the execution phase.

In addition to testing and R&D work

We believe that it will be of great interest for operators/oil companies to learn more about the results from performed R&D work, planned work and also discuss the main concerns involving the future of hydrate inhibition technology. A part of the conference will be dedicated to discussing the way forward.

Lifecycle efficiency - lifetime operation - optimal return on investment

Aker Solutions' process systems lifecycle service and support team offers service agreements with a strong focus on:

  • Global capacity for
    • Service and maintenance
    • Retrofit
    • Modifications
    • Performance evaluation studies
  • Extensive customised training programmes for
    • MEG and hydrate inhibition

A section of the HIT™ conference will be dedicated to discussing Aker Solutions' process systems lifecycle services (LCS), to ensure that we have a perfect understanding of our clients' needs and to discuss ways to improve our services.
