Aker Solutions has supplied a Pusnes offloading system™ to the FPSO Petrojarl Cidade de Rio das Ostras. Delivery also includes a 230 meter long 12 inch floating crude oil hose that uses the Pusnes hose valve™ to connect to the bow loading system (BLS) on the shuttle tanker. Aker Solutions was chosen as the preferred partner due to their extensive experience with offshore loading and offloading systems, as well as their flexibility to deliver tailor-made solutions for special customer requirements.
Standard placement of a hose reel is on an FPSOs bow or stern so that the crude oil hose may deploy directly into sea. However due to structural challenges on this FPSO, the hose reel had to be placed 15 meters in on deck.
For safe operation and maintenance, a customized working platform was required, so in order to handle the vulnerable crude oil hose safely, Aker Solutions designed a customized slipway with spooling gear. The 15 meter long and 9 meter tall slipway is equipped with rollers to minimize friction.
A very short engineering and production period was followed by a successful commissioning period and since first oil in 2008 the offloading system has been in regular operation without any problems.
