Senior Specialist, HSSE

Our Performance and Transformation Team in Mobile, AL is now looking for a Senior Specialist, HSSE.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for compliance with local HSSE legislations
  • Execute implementation of Corporate HSSE strategy, KPI’s and activity plans in defined region
  • Drive continuous improvement in HSSE, including learning across own region, other regions, and relevant industry peers
  • Conduct internal audits to relevant standards (e.g.: ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
  • Develop and implement HSSE plans, procedures, and work instructions
  • Establish and execute routines for Emergency Response
  • Identify and assess risks throughout the site and develop and implement robust control measures to minimize accidents
  • Conduct and complete Injury and Illness report with injured team member, Area Coordinator and Team Leader or Manager after completing thorough accident investigation and ensure post-accident drug screens are completed as required
  • Act as worker’s compensation liaison and participate in quarterly reviews of loss runs and complete and maintain OSHA 300 Log record keeping
  • Collaborate with managers, to lead and manage HSSE programs to maximize worker safety and minimize environmental harm and achieve compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations
  • Coach, lead, and mentor all Aker employees to achieve HSSE objectives and to support individual employee HSSE knowledge and development
  • Directly and through others, implement HSSE practices, procedures, metrics, and systems to create best practices for a safe workplace
  • Keep abreast of any HSSE law or regulation changes that impact the organization
  • Engage with employees, contractors, and other stakeholders regularly to ensure that the HSSE requirements & specifications are met
  • Accountable for leading an HSSE corrective action program which would include HSSE audits, regulatory inspections, industrial accidents, and other assessments that identify HSSE issues that require corrective action
  • Accountable for the timely and accurate completion of all HSSE, OSHA, federal and state safety regulatory reports
  • Manage systems to maintain supporting records for all HSSE activities

We think you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering or similar.
  • 7-10 years of relevant HSSE experience with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
  • Desired certifications: Certified Safety Professional and IRCA OH&S Certified Auditor
  • Requires the ability to use specialized software (SAP, Synergi, etc)
  • Knowledge of regional HSSE standards
  • Understanding of the drivers for HSSE performance and culture
  • Analytic mindset
  • Communicative
  • Understanding of the Products and Services value chain
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are critical.
