Control Systems

Aker Solutions’ fully integrated subsea control systems are reliable, robust and built upon commercially available building blocks. The systems combine topside controls, hydraulic and electrical power units and subsea control modules to allow systems on the seafloor to be operated from the surface.

Highly Adaptable Systems

Our systems largely use standardized technology adapted to each unique project. They are typically part of our subsea production system, but are also available as standalone items.

Advantages Include

  • Highly configurable systems
  • Standardized products
  • Suited to all water depths
  • Backward compatibility to bring new features to legacy systems.
  • Products that meet new subsea challenges
  • Reliable in high temperature/pressure.
  • Accurate monitoring
  • Safe production

Our Control Systems

Master Control Station (MCS)

Our modular designs are typically located topside and provide complete control and monitoring of both subsea equipment and surface electrical power units (EPU) and hydraulic power units (HPU.)

Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU)

The hydraulic power unit for subsea systems is usually located topside. Four variations of the standardized HPU design are available.

Subsea Control Module (SCM)

These modules control trees and/or manifold valves, as well as collecting and transmitting subsea data to the Master Control Stations. The SCMs have a highly configurable and modular design using standardized parts.

Subsea Electronic Modules (SEM)

The SEMs monitor and control such subsea production equipment as trees, manifolds, valves and chokes.

Vectus™ 6.0 (SEM)

The next generation of Subsea Electronic Modules offers greater data and power capabilities with lower project execution risks. This is our baseline electronics and software platform for future growth, with a design focused on quality, reliability and manufacturability.

Standard EPU

With a capacity of six power channels, these units offer line insulation management and failure warnings to increase Asset Integrity Management (AIM) capabilities. AIM is the proactive monitoring of subsea infrastructure to reduce the number of unexpected failures.

Instrumentation

Our instrumentation measures temperature, pressure, sand production, multiphase flow and the condition of subsea control equipment. Our products offer high reliability and excellent long-term stability.

Electronic Power Unit (EPU)

The EPUs provide power to the Subsea Control Modules, which in turn power the Subsea Electronic Modules.
