Our St. John's office is looking for a Finance Solutions Lead.
The Finance Solutions Lead is accountable for all accounting related functions, preparation of accounting and financial reporting, budget and forecasting processes for all Canadian entities. And is directly responsible for the supervision and development of the Finance Solutions team.
What will you be doing?
- Manage accounting function including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Own relationship with external service providers for Taxation services.
- Take ownership of liaising with external Tax advisers for all legal entities in area of responsibility, responding to any enquiries from management.
- Supervise and validate tax equalization and expatriate tax submissions and reconciliations.
- Accountable for payroll remittances and all required government filings, including coordination of corporate tax and HST remittances.
- Provide functional expertise and give recommendations related to issues within finance, including processes, staffing, system requirements and interfaces.
- Provide support and where necessary advice to resolve queries internally which may arise on accounting matters, seeking support from more senior team members when the nature of the request has the potential for organisation-wide impact.
- Ensure the processes are well executed and coordinated to enable maximum efficiency, also to provide challenge where required.
- Responsible for domestic and foreign banking interfaces; assumes the responsibilities of Administrator.
- Proactively mentor and guide Senior, Intermediate and Junior team members.
- Take responsibility for Cash Forecasting for all Canadian companies by providing an accurate and transparent view to for both short term (weekly) and long term (monthly) views.
- Take ownership of being the BPO provider Interface and providing resolutions for all Canadian P2P (purchase to pay) and R2R (record to report) enquiries.
- Ensure that all group accounting procedures and business dimensions are adhered to, ensuring the integrity of the ledgers.
- Take ownership of the uploading of monthly management reporting and forecasts from SAP to Tagetik, including liaising with the Corporate Accounting team to resolve business queries.
- Prepare / Review balance sheet reconciliations and analyse any discrepancies, making recommendations for the implementation of improvements to close out any identified issues.
- Prepare Quarterly Balance Sheet Review with Management and demonstrate ability to understand any issues arising and translate them into functional language against which solutions can be assessed.
- Complete quarterly Internal Controls assertation in relation to Financial Reporting stating compliance with control handbook.
- Take ownership of the Preparation of charge rates - T1, IT, Office, and respond to queries from management.
- Seek opportunities for standardisation and harmonisation within the Finance function.
We think you should have:
- Diploma or degree in business administration / accounting discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA Designation and current membership in a recognized certified professional accounting association.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior financial accounting role.
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles (IFRS), payroll administration and applicable legislation and regulations required.
- Solid understanding of accounting and finance and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines.
- SAP experience an asset.
- Corporate Taxation experience an asset.
