Our St. John’s, NL, office is looking for a Senior Manager - Finance to join our team!

As a key member of the Finance team, you will help drive the organization's digital transformation agenda and support the Senior Management Team through strong financial leadership and commercial insight. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial administration and commercial governance of significant engineering, maintenance, and construction projects, ensuring compliance with contractual and financial requirements. Collaborating with stakeholders across the business, you will deliver high-quality financial reporting, enhance commercial performance, and promote a culture of financial and commercial accountability.

What will you be doing?

  • Own and drive financial performance and commercial management of the Aker Solutions business and support achievement of strategic targets for assigned area(s).
  • To take full ownership of controlling activities for all segments in Canada and provide proactive advice to the business leadership on current and potential future matters that affect the business.
  • Own support to all segments controlling activity, including regional consolidations, adjustment entries and MOR preparation and coordinating input from other regional controllers.
  • Accountable for financial planning and reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, investment planning, corporate finance, performance management, contract and stakeholder management, internal controls, transfer pricing, treasury, and taxation, in coordination with relevant corporate functions where required. Responsible for accounting oversight of all segment profit and loss.
  • Partner with the Tender team to provide input, control and direction regarding tenders. Support operational initiatives and champion continuous improvement of financial metrics and local processes (e.g. working capital optimization, strengthening of internal controls).
  • Motivate and inspire underlying teams (Direct and Indirect reports).
  • Lead initiatives to improve profitability and cash generation, including baseline forecast management, margin reviews (where applicable), value of recovery (VOR) opportunities, cost of quality, overhead optimization, and ensuring effective feedback of cost learnings into tendering processes. Drive financial performance and delivery of targets, including cost efficiency initiatives, across assigned segment(s). Own and drive the budget, forecast, and spend planning processes.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to business leaders, supporting strategic priorities through analysis, expert advice, and guidance, while maintaining strong financial governance and providing recommendations to enable sound decision-making. Support operational initiatives and champion continuous improvement of financial metrics and local processes (e.g. working capital optimization, strengthening of internal controls).
  • Own month-end close, financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting activities, including all financial aspects of the Management Operating Review (MOR) process (Income Statement and Balance Sheet), ensuring clear articulation of key insights under tight deadlines. Identify and manage financial risks and opportunities, applying appropriate and timely accounting judgements in line with company policy and IFRS.
  • Build, manage, and develop a high-performing Finance team through effective leadership and collaboration with the global finance organization.
  • Support operational initiatives and champion continuous improvement of financial metrics and local processes (e.g. working capital optimization, strengthening of internal controls).
  • Oversee the ongoing development and effectiveness of financial processes and internal controls, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and regulatory/compliance requirements in a growing business environment. Ensure oversight of the business's commercial aspects, protecting Aker Solutions’ interests by identifying and mitigating contractual risks.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal corporate stakeholders and, where appropriate, external stakeholders, including financial institutions, tax advisors, insurance brokers, and legal counsel.

We think you should have:

CPA Designation and current membership in a recognized certified professional accounting association. A diploma or degree in business administration/accounting discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years of financial leadership experience, preferably within a growing and entrepreneurial organization. A reputation for being a trusted business advisor who fosters strategic organizational improvement and success. Able to convey financial analytics clearly and concisely and be highly capable of leading complex negotiations. Strong interest in overall business operations and a big-picture thinker who is comfortable and practical working both at a strategic and a tactical level. Experience with merger and acquisition-related activities and experience with due diligence and business valuation, joint ventures, and drafting letters of intent. Working within an industrial environment, including marine, oil and gas, and construction industries, is undoubtedly an asset.
