Kathryn joined Aker Solutions in Aberdeen as a technical assistant to the quality manager in 2008. She now works as a Services Quality Manager herself and has completed a bachelor's degree in Business Management while working full time.
What originally attracted you to work at Aker Solutions?
Aker Solutions provides excellent career development opportunities – that was attractive to me. The company values also stood out as something I could identify with and represented the type of organization I would like to work for.
How has your career developed?
I have progressed from my initial role as Quality Assurance Technical Assistant to my current role as Services Quality Manager. As part of this journey, I have had the opportunity to work on all sizes of projects, from major subsea projects to aftermarket. Aker Solutions' funding of my education also helped me develop my skills. While my job helped me through my degree as I could apply my practical knowledge to the course, my degree helped me understand different ways of thinking within the workplace.
What is the best thing about working at here?
The people in Aker Solutions make coming to work a pleasure. There is a great team spirit and it makes a huge difference when everyone is striving for the same goal.
