Entr delivers decarbonization roadmap for fertilizer production facility in Oman
Entr was selected by Oman India Fertilizer Company SAOC (OMIFCO) to develop a decarbonization and clean energy roadmap for its large-scale fertilizer production facility in Sur, Oman.

Entr was selected by OMIFCO to develop a decarbonization and clean energy roadmap for its large-scale fertilizer production facility in Sur, Oman. The facility relies on in-country natural gas and features advanced energy integration, posing unique challenges for emission reduction.
The study focused on exploring viable pathways for the plant to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, in alignment with Oman’s national climate goals. Oman is pursuing a phased and pragmatic approach to achieve a smooth transition, beginning with low-cost decarbonization and gradually tackling more challenging sectors.
The challenge was to identify technically feasible and economically viable solutions that could be implemented across short, mid, and long-term horizons, without disrupting production or compromising operational efficiency. The project required a structured approach to evaluate multiple technology configurations, assess their impact on emissions and cost, and ensure alignment with OMIFCO’s long-term sustainability objectives.
OMIFCO partnered with Entr due to its recognized technical excellence in CCS and ability to leverage real-world experience and insights.
We identified a range of decarbonization options and conducted in-depth techno-economic analyses, enhanced by commercial, regulatory, and sustainability insights. Providing Class 4 CAPEX estimates (feasibility study estimates) and calculations for the levelized cost of urea and ammonia, we provided insights to position OMIFCO in the green fertilizer market.
The most suitable pathways were selected based on emission reduction potential, minimal disruption to production, infrastructure compatibility, scalability, and practical implementation factors like land, environment, and workforce availability.
The team, equipped with complementary skill sets, combined the commercial expertise of our advisory group with our technical specialists. Working across Mumbai and Oslo, the project team delivered high-quality analysis and recommendations informing OMIFCO’s investment decisions.
Our team identified a set of fit-for-purpose solutions that aligned with OMIFCO’s operational requirements and evaluation criteria, including emissions reduction potential, cost efficiency, and infrastructure compatibility. The preferred scenarios also opened up long-term opportunities for sustainable operations and future technology upgrades.
