Johan Castberg
The Johan Castberg FPSO was the largest floating production facility ever developed by Equinor. It was built at Stord in southwest norway, and today operates in the Barents Sea 240 km northwest of Hammerfest in an area beset by fierce arctic conditions.

Prepare for installation and mooring the largest FPSO built in Norway in the arctic, to to enable safe and reliable production, while withstanding relentless winter storms, high winds, and heavy seas.
Before production started, preparations began for offshore deployment.
In close collaboration with the client, engineering and topside integration teams Aker Solutions planned for marine readiness and offshore operations. Stability and readiness assessments were conducted ahead of deployment to enable tailored mooring. Our support of the project completed with hook-up installations when the FPSO arrived on field in the Barents Sea.
Working closely with Equinor and project partners, the team helped ensure a safe and coordinated transition from yard completion to offshore installation, drawing on expertise across marine operations, engineering and offshore execution.
When Johan Castberg FPSO was successfully installed on the field and brought into production, it marked the culmination of more than a decade of project development. Through support for marine readiness, mooring and hook-up activities, Aker Solutions helped prepare the facility for its long-term offshore operation.
