Hywind Tampen
Hywind Tampen is the world's largest floating offshore wind farm. It powers Equinor's offshore oil and gas installations in the Tampen area.
Aker Solutions was responsible for execution of the marine operations to transport and secure all 11 floating units and connected systems, in addition to engineering, procurement, and construction of the concrete hulls that carry the wind turbines.
These services included full project management, engineering, assembly site management, mooring system installation, units tow-to-field and installation on field.

Located ~140 kilometers from shore, between the Snorre and Gullfaks oil and gas platforms in Norway’s North Sea, Hywind Tampen proved the scalability of floating offshore wind.
Everything about the project was high-profile and under the loop of the industry. It had to both deliver safely and benchmark how to install floating wind in one of the world's most weather exposed regions. In addition to the geographical and engineering challenges, the project was delivered during the Covid pandemic, complying with heightened HSE requirements.
This required excellent project management and seamless integration of marine engineering, logistics and offshore execution.
Aker Solutions integrated installation planning from the production stage through to installation execution.
Our team provided marine operations including end-to-end project management of marine engineering, assembly site management, mooring system installation, towing and handling, and secure offshore installation of all 11 floating wind turbine units.
The world's largest floating offshore wind farm was safely deployed, according to specifications, enabling renewable power supply to Equinor's offshore oil and gas installations in the Tampen area.
