Next generation aquaculture

As sea temperatures rise, fish farmers are confronting new challenges. Aker Solutions has created a solution that safeguards the natural conditions that make Norway's west coast perfect for salmon farming. 

Our innovative closed aquaculture system recreates ideal conditions for salmon: clean and stable water environments, with engineered control of intakes and outflow. Developed in collaboration with leading industry partners, the Aker Solutions closed cage incorporates solutions that prioritize fish health, water quality, and operational reliability.

  • Revolutionary seawater intake system (patent-pending), radically improves water temperature and quality, and uses ca. 30% less power 
  • Horizontal separation between intake and discharge is ensured by moored, seawater intakes, preventing recirculation of waste and spent water 
  • Umbilical connection between cage and barge
  • Umbilicals and hoses from TESS a leading supplier of offshore certified cage hoses for feed, power, air, fiber, and return of waste or mortalities

Automated control systems (patent-pending) developed in collaboration with ABB, the industry leader in electrical, instrumentation, control and telecom (EICT) systems for closed aquaculture.
