Welding Engineer

Our Department for Welding and Material technology at Stord is now looking for a qualified Welding Engineer to join our team.

What will you be doing?

• Act as a super user for WeldEye, MIPS, Power BI, and SPS, and contribute to technology development and continuous improvement initiatives
• Assist in the review of requirements, standards, and specifications related to new tenders and contracts
• Maintain dialogue with subcontractors and support procurement processes with welding technology expertise
• Be responsible for work related to governing documents within Welding Technology
• Collaborate closely with the Discipline Leader for Technology, other discipline leads, production teams, subcontractors, and inspection bodies
• Perform and oversee welding inspection activities
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Department Manager and Discipline Leader for Welding Technology

We think you should have:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or Technical College education
• 1–3 years of experience as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT) is preferred
• Experience with Welding Inspection
• Familiar and interested in welding standards and specification such as ISO, NORSOK and ASME
• Innovative and solution oriented mindset
• Work closely in team with an ability to work independently
• Fluency in Norwegian and English
• Work systematically

Candidates currently pursuing an IWE or IWT certification are also encouraged to apply.The position is based at Stord Yard, and travel may be required.
