We’re now looking for an experienced Layout & Design Engineer to join our Subsea Power Distribution team at Tranby or Fornebu. Join us now!

In this position, you will enjoy a high degree of freedom and the opportunity to be involved in everything from developing new products and participating in studies and EPC projects.

What will you be doing?

As a Lead Designer in the Subsea Power Distribution Engineering Team, you will be responsible for end-to-end layout and design across the product lifecycle. You will transform concepts into manufacturable, high-performance Subsea Substations, Subsea collectors, Subsea Power Cable Terminations, and more.

Your main tasks include:

  • Designing complex layouts in 3D (SolidWorks) and producing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Leading and mentoring designers in a collaborative project environment
  • Reviewing and approving design work from other team members
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications
  • Coordinating with vendors, engineers, and project stakeholders to deliver optimal design solutions
  • Developing and maintaining BOMs, supporting prototype builds, and validating designs on the production floor
  • Preparing technical presentations and weight estimates based on materials and design data
  • Taking ownership of the design process and driving improvements across products and projects

We think you should have:

We are looking for a design expert with deep technical insight, leadership capability, and hands-on experience in subsea or complex industrial systems.

You should bring:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, subsea engineering, civil engineering, or a similar discipline
  • A strong background in subsea systems, preferably with 7+ years of relevant experience
  • A solid understanding of SolidWorks and PLM systems like SAP
  • Experience in R&D, studies, and EPC projects
  • Familiarity with installation and operational aspects of subsea or offshore equipment
  • A collaborative and change-friendly leadership style with a passion for mentoring and developing others
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
