Innovative Technology for Ultra-Long Distance Step-Outs and Heavy Power Umbilicals

The Oscilay manufacturing method addresses challenges of extreme tension loads during installation of long-distance umbilicals. The unique PVC packaging system minimizes stresses during installation by protecting internal tubes and cables, but still allowing free internal movement.
Because there are no weight limitations no splicing is required during the production. The result is a step change for umbilical delivery time. In addition, the process is safer for employees and has a lower risk potential for failures on the seafloor.
Power and control capabilities are integrated within the production flowline resulting in simpler field configurations. Power umbilical systems are bundled with cable and fiber optic systems, providing distribution of power, control and communication between subsea equipment on the seafloor and platforms or floating production facilities.
These ultra-long tiebacks, even up to 600 km, remove the need for production platforms which significantly lowers development capex and opex.
