Fatal accident at Egersund yard

An employee of a supplier company who was delivering equipment to Aker Solutions’ yard in Egersund, Norway, died today of injuries occurred in a work-related accident on 13 October. 

The accident took place at around 07:30 local time on 13 October, during a delivery of equipment to the yard. The accident happened during the offloading process.

The yard’s medical officer provided support within minutes of the accident. Ambulance and police came quickly to the site and the 25-year old man was taken to hospital. He died in hospital of the injuries on Friday 14 October.

“It was with great sorrow that I learned that an employee of one of our suppliers passed away due to an injury occurred while working for Aker Solutions. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult and tragic time,” says Aker Solutions’ CEO Kjetel Digre.  

An internal investigation by Aker Solutions and external investigations by the police and the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority have been initiated.
