The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority has informed Aker Solutions Holding ASA that it has approved the prospectus dated September 15, 2014, for the listing of the company's shares on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Aker Solutions Holding ASA, which was created to facilitate the demerger of Aker Solutions into two independent companies, will be renamed Aker Solutions ASA on completion of the split. The existing Aker Solutions will be renamed Akastor ASA, an oil-services investment company created by the separation.

In 2018, Sunnhordland Kraftlag (SKL) decided to build Løkjelsvatn hydropower station in southwestern Norway. The power station uses water from the Løkjelsvatn reservoir. The water is led through tunnels to an underground powerhouse equipped with a Francis (measured as the drop from the reservoir to the turbine). Aker Solutions supplied and installed mechanical equipment in the powerhouse, consisting of a Francis turbine, a main inlet valve, a turbine governor system and a cooling and drainage system. Aker Solutions has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mainstream Renewable Power (“Mainstream”), an Aker Horizons company, Ocean Winds and Statkraft, to collaborate on offshore wind at Utsira Nord in Norway. Mainstream, Ocean Winds and Statkraft are in a consortium to pursue an application to develop floating wind power at the Utsira Nord license area in 2023.
