Aker Solutions has designed onshore oil and gas terminals, gas power plants, carbon storage terminals, refineries and petrochemical facilities worldwide.

Constructed with techniques used for North Sea platforms like Troll A, this project applied the same principles to LNG infrastructure instead of oil and gas production. The gravity based structure acts as an artificial island. It is the world’s first offshore LNG import terminal built on a concrete GBS. The GBS is extremely stable and anchored by its own weight. It houses one of the largest offshore LNG storage tanks in the world. The tank sits inside the gravity base structure, protected by thick reinforced concrete
