We are now looking for a Scaffolder to support the Offshore Team - Newfoundland.
What will you be doing?
- Erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding as necessary to complete planned construction, maintenance, and operations activities in compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct safety checks, monitor for stability, and maintain equipment ensuring safe access for workers to perform their duties at elevated heights.
- Assist with inspection of all scaffolding prior to use, complete inspection checklist and log/document details in alignment with relevant codes, standards, procedures, and practices.
- Complete and/or coordinate all documentation required for permit issuance for scaffolding activitieves in alignment with the work management system.
- Assess and determine the type and location of scaffold required to support the execution of planned work, with responsibility for identifying and requesting scaffolding requiring onshore design or survey support.
- Interpret technical documents to assess and plan task sequences, required materials, and selection of appropriate tools and PPE prior to scope execution.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of offshore scaffold inventory in accordance with project specific procedures and work instructions.
- Perform work in a remote offshore location with a requirement to work in confined spaces, work from heights, in hazardous EX rated areas near operating equipment
- Work collaboratively in a multi-discipline team environment, focused on the efficient and safe completion of all assigned tasks within the scaffolding team including reporting of daily work progress to supervision.
- Take an active role in maintaining a safe work environment through participation in all HSSE programs and initiatives including, but not limited to, toolbox talks, safety observations, job hazard analysis, and ensuring compliance with all site rules and procedures.
- Ensure all required training, certification, and medical assessments for continued competency in role are maintained and completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure a continued commitment to meet all other requirements set out by Aker Solutions and/or our clients/vendors.
We think you should have:
- Scaffolding Certification
- 5 years experience as a journeyperson, ideally in an offshore environment
- All mandatory training outlined in the CAAP Standard Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Offshore Personnel
- As outlined in CAPP medical requirements including fitness for offshore work
- All indicated in the scope/client specific training matrix
- In depth understanding of applicable regulatory codes and practices within the scaffolding discipline and their application in an offshore brownfield environment.
- Awareness of the overall purpose of work management systems (PTW) in an operating/brownfield environment, the work scopes that would require permitting, and significant experience performing work scopes under permit including, but not limited to, lock out-tag out protocols, zero energy isolation, confined space entry.
- Ability to erect and dismantle scaffold based on engineered scaffold design, construction workpack details, etc. Experience with various types of scaffold including system scaffold, tube & clamp, towers, hanging and cantilever scaffold, erecting hoardings, etc.
- Demonstrate understanding of scaffold design criteria, maximum intended load capacity and intended use of scaffold and load carrying capacity.
- Knowledge and practical experience in assessing, inspecting, and verifying that tools and materials selected are appropriate for use, meet the requirements to ensure the safe execution of work, and documentation of faults and non-conformances.
- Ability to formally document scaffolding records and permit documents as required, supplying records as requested in support of work scope close out.
- Understanding of the hazards and risks associated with the use, installation, and dismantling of scaffolding/hoarding and the importance of ensuring that execution and inspection activities take place as defined in regulations, codes, or client/company standards.
- Awareness of the varied safety systems & protocols used to ensure work is performed safely – JHA, Observations, toolbox talks, permit sign on, etc.
