Our Controls Solutions Centre is the spearhead within the company, developing and doing product life cycle management of products and technologies to enable growth within low-carbon solutions for oil and gas, and new projects for renewable energy production. The department is responsible for design and development of embedded hardware and embedded software, which is used in subsea control systems, electrical actuators, and electrification of subsea products. The team also works with condition monitoring systems.

Controls Solutions Centre consists of 4 discipline teams, totaling 50 engineers and growing. Our development strategy is to build state-of-the-art processes and methodology, such as agile, virtualization and continuous integration. The departments have direct access to in-house lab facilities with equipment and tools for concept development, prototyping and testing. The platform we use is the MPSoC(System on Chip) FPGA from Xilinx that is a flexible processor system to enable the following main capabilities: low power consumption, good reliability figures, common platform for HW, FPGA and SW to our products.

What will you be doing?

The most important task of this Manager role in Control Solutions Centre is to build a strong Embedded Electronics development team. Ten skilled developers with background from multiple industries make up the team today. You will have the personnel responsibility for the engineers in the team, and you work continuously to motivate and develop each individual team member to contribute at their best. You make sure that the team is constantly working to improve competence, culture, work processes and each other.

You will work closely with the department management team and product managers. The product manager has the overall responsibility for roadmap and priorities. You, together with the management team, are responsible for the technical quality and for prioritizing technical matters in collaboration with the product manager. You are responsible for the flow of the team. By that we mean that you have good execution power to deliver on the goals that the team sets together with the product manager and project managers. You follow up on existing strategies and will also work on creating new ones.

All team members in Controls Solutions Centre are at different levels when it comes to maturity and experience. You will work on taking your team and team members to the next level using the individuals’ strengths and abilities: Do we have progress? Right tasks to right individual? Does the team have too few developers? Does anyone need personal development? Are we on top of new technologies? Is there an imbalance between new development and maintenance? Does anyone on the team need a mentor or advice? All these challenges you may face as Manager for the Embedded Electronics team.

We think you should have:

  • B/MSc degree within electronics, cybernetics or similar
  • Experience in product development within embedded electronics, PCBA design, Hardware architecture
  • People skills and the ability to lead and develop the team
  • Ability to handle complex specifications and develop consistent solutions
  • Good communication skills, fluent written and spoken English
